Step back into early 20th-century American forestry history with this exceptional Vintage "Fulton Clipper" Embossed Felling Axe. Featuring deeply embossed/acid-etched "FULTON CLIPPER" branding across the cheek and mounted on a wonderfully preserved antique wooden handle, this piece represents classic Golden-Age American tool craftsmanship.
The Fulton Brand Legacy: Named after the Fulton Tool Works (originally established in Canal Fulton, Ohio), "Fulton" became a widely recognized brand name featured prominently in the Sears, Roebuck & Co. catalogs starting in 1905. Sears used Fulton as one of its premier house tool brands throughout the early 1900s prior to the introduction of Craftsman in 1927.
Contracted Forge Craftsmanship: To manufacture their top-tier "Clipper" line, Sears contracted major American axe manufacturers—most notably the Kelly Axe & Tool Co.—to produce high-carbon forged steel heads.
Acid-Etched & Embossed Lettering: During this era, raised embossing and deep acid etching were used as marks of premium quality, ensuring the branding would endure through decades of hard timber work long after paper labels dissolved.
Exceptional Vintage Handle: Fitted with a classic antique hickory helve featuring historic grain structure, natural aging, and traditional hafting character.
