Product Description
Step back into American industrial history with this striking Vintage "Gold Bond" Embossed Double Bit Axe Head. Featuring bold, deep embossing across the cheek, this double bit axe head is a prime example of late 19th- to early 20th-century hardware craftsmanship and American forestry history.
The "Gold Bond" Private Label: The "Gold Bond" stamp represents one of the highly sought-after private-label brandings produced during the golden age of American axe manufacturing. Major forge works across the U.S. (such as Mann Edge Tool Co. or Kelly Axe & Tool Co.) were frequently contracted by regional hardware distributors to manufacture premium, custom-branded line axes.
Embossed & Etched Branding: During this era, etched and embossed logos were used as a sign of top-tier quality. Unlike temporary paper labels that wore off during heavy woodland use, raised embossing provided a permanent mark of distinction that endured for generations.
Double Bit Utility: Favored by classic lumberjacks and foresters, the double bit design offered dual-purpose functionality—allowing one finer, sharp edge for clean chopping and felling, and a second thicker edge reserved for knotty wood or working near roots and soil.
Brand / Marking: Deep, raised "GOLD BOND" embossed branding on the blade cheek.
Head Pattern: Classic Full-Size Double Bit Pattern.
